England call puts star Morris in a spin
FOREST of Dean cricketer Fi Morris has been named in the provisional 30-strong squad England squad for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup in Sri Lanka later this month.
Spinner Morris, 18, has been part of Gloucestershire's emerging player programme for the past three seasons and plays club cricket for Bristol Phoenix.
Hailing from St Briavels, near Lydney, she played two Twenty20 matches for England Under-19s against Pakistan at Loughborough and helped the hosts to back-to-back wins with figures of three for 12 and one for 15 from her allotted overs.
Morris trains with the Gloucestershire Academy boys squad and Lisa Pagett, the county's women's development officer said that has played a crucial role in her development.

Pagett said: "Training with the boys (at Gloucestershire) has definitely helped Fi raise her standards.
"Working in that environment has pushed her to be more competitive and really stretch herself."
Pagett also believes Morris' call-up will inspire more women and girls in Gloucestershire to take up the sport.
She added: "It is fantastic for our girls to see someone from their county going on to play at the highest level and Fi is a great role model for them to look up to."
