Evans chasing attacking reinforcements
SHORTWOOD hope to bring in a new striker ahead of tomorrow's FA Trophy game against Merthyr Town at Meadowbank.
Boss John Evans is also hoping to see the return of forward Kevin Slack in a bid to improve Wood's scoring rate.
Slack has been suffering with a knee injury, but Evans is keen to see him return.
Shortwood go into tomorrow's match on the back of Tuesday's disappointing 1-1 draw against Clevedon in Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South and West and Evans said he is looking for a big improvement.

"We had played really well on Saturday in the 1-1 draw away at North Leigh," he said.
"And if we had played like that against Clevedon on Tuesday, we would have won.
"But we have a couple of Hartpury boys in midfielders James Baldwin and Jake Parrott and we have to look after them.
"They've been great for us this season, but we could only give them a half each as they were playing for Hartpury on Wednesday.
"We made some changes in the second half and went 4-4-2 and we did a bit better."
Evans is hoping to name a strong team for tomorrow's FA Trophy clash, including Baldwin and Parrott.
And the new striker could also be in the line-up, with negotiations taking place yesterday.
He added: "Merthyr are flying in our league in fourth place and will bring a lot of support.
"We will be the underdogs, but it seems to suit us when we are up against it.
"A new striker would come at just the right time for us, as would the return of Slack for this big game."
Shortwood will, however, be without Luke Gullick who sustained a hamstring injury on Tuesday and will be out for at least two weeks.
In Tuesday's game Clevedon scored with their first attack after three minutes with a goal from Reeko Best. Wood levelled through Joey Tustain.
