Evesham held again by Mangotsfield
EVESHAM UNITED drew for the fifth time in nine BGB Premier games with this goalless stalemate at Mangotsfield United.
The first half of the game saw defences dominate with few chances for either side.
Mangotsfield's Geraint Bater tested Robins goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan after four minutes with a low shot from 25 yards and in the 15th minute Evesham's Simon Fitter curled a free-kick just over the crossbar.
Bater was involved again in the 25th minute when he sent an in-swinging centre over and Mitchell Page climbed well but his header soared wide.
On the half-hour, United forward Gary Hay fired in a low drive towards the far post but Mangos goalkeeper Josh Clapham did well to smother his effort.
A good run by Neil Arndale down the right hand side resulted in Page flicking a header across goal but Marcus Duharty at the far post was unable to connect.
Mangotsfield started the second half in positive fashion and Ellis Wilmott tried a speculative lob from 30 yards which had Vaughan back-pedalling.
Vaughan was then called upon to deal with a close-range effort from Duharty as the ball bounced awkwardly around the penalty area following a corner from Wilmot.
Bater then sent in another in-swinging free-kick from 25 yards which deceived the goalkeeper but clipped the crossbar and went over the top.
In the closing 15 minutes Mangos surged forward in search of a deciding goal and a fierce drive by Page was tipped around the post by Vaughan.
The goalkeeper then touched a Clough header on to the bar and over in stoppage time.
