Exciting chapter for festival fans
AFTER months of securing a line-up featuring some of the world's most renowned authors and personalities, this year's jam-packed edition of the Cheltenham Literature Festival will kick off today.
And what a way to begin.
Kofi Annan will set the festival bar incredibly high when he takes to the stage this evening in Montpellier Gardens at 6.30pm.
He will be discussing his 10-year tenure as the Secretary General of the United Nations as well as marking the publication of his new book, appropriately entitled A Life in War and Peace.

Salman Rushdie, author of TheSatanic Verses, will be holding court just down the road in Imperial Square at the same time to discuss liberty and freedom of speech.
Other highlights on today's schedule include a talk by Sebastian Faulks, the author of Birdsong.
He will be talking about his life and work in Montpellier Gardens at 2pm.
Benedict Cumberbatch, Sir Roger Moore, Michael Palin, Ben Fogle, David Suchet, Victoria Pendleton, and JK Rowling are all scheduled to appear at this year's festival, which will run until October 14, and draws crowds from across the world.
