AFTER months of securing a line-up featuring some of the world's most renowned authors and personalities, this year's jam-packed edition of the Cheltenham Literature Festival will kick off today.

And what a way to begin.

Kofi Annan will set the festival bar incredibly high when he takes to the stage this evening in Montpellier Gardens at 6.30pm.

He will be discussing his 10-year tenure as the Secretary General of the United Nations as well as marking the publication of his new book, appropriately entitled A Life in War and Peace.
