Exotic orchids on show in Churchdown
EXOTIC blooms drew in a crowd of 500 people to Churchdown over the weekend.
Flower-lovers flocked to Churchdown Community Centre to see the riot of colour at the Cheltenham and District Orchid Society's show.
Also exhibiting were Bristol and South West Orchid Societies and two trade growers. Jan Broadway, who helped organise the intoxicating event, said: "They're just beautiful plants and slightly unusual. Our exhibit, which was about 12ft by 12ft, dominated the centre of the room and took several hours to put together. It had dozens of varieties, a vast range from the moth orchid, phalaenopsis, that most people know, to cymbidiums which are large and spectacular."
Mr Price won the best plant in the Cheltenham exhibit and also second place. Arnold Cleveley won the best plant in show.
