FAIR SHARES Bids a Fond Farewell to CEO Lawrence Hughes
Monday 18th March saw staff, trustees, participants and colleagues old and new come together to wish Lawrence Hughes well in his retirement from CEO of Fair Shares, a Gloucestershire-based charity that supports and encourages community activity. Lawrence has served as CEO for 6 years and has lead the organisation to expand across Gloucestershire and into Warwickshire and Oxford.
The event was held at City Works at the organisations head office in Gloucester. Staff and participants baked a huge selection of cakes, some even bearing the Fair Shares logo. Staff, participants, volunteers, partner organisations, funders and friends of Lawrence and the organisation enjoyed afternoon tea. Presentations were made by Mark Gale Chair of the Fair Shares board, Martin Simon Fair Shares patron, Nicky Grant Fair Shares participant, Shelley Humpage, Time Broker, Jez Spencer new Fair Shares CEO. In his speech Lawrence thanked all the staff, trustees and particiapants he has worked with over his time with Fair Shares. Quotes about Lawrence from staff and participants were also read, including this quote from Helen who is a Time Broker in Stratford; 'Loads of people know Lawrence better, and have for longer, than me but he has made a real impression upon me in a relatively short time. The words that flood my brain when I think of Lawrence are: A visionary with the rare combination of universal compassion and business acumen'
