Failed burglary at city museum
FAILED attempts by suspected burglars to break into Gloucester Museum have caused £70 of damage.
A window at the back of the building in Commercial Road was smashed, some time between 5.30pm on Sunday and Monday morning.
The Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum tells the story of two famous county regiments, The Gloucestershire Regiment and The Royal Gloucestershire Hussars.
A spokesman for the museum said the damage caused was a nuisance but it was hard to tell whether it was an attempted break-in or somebody annoyed with the gate to the alleyway around the side of the museum being closed.

He said: "We've had damage caused before by free runners clambering up the building but nothing like this."
A police spokesman said: "There is concern that the damage, which will cost around £70 to repair, may have been caused as part of an attempt to break into the museum and police are eager for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area to call them."
Anyone with information should ring 101, quoting incident 127 of September 10.

“Note to TiG: Gloucester Museum is in Brunswick Road. The attempted break-in was at the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum, as it states later in your article.”
