Fan reaction: Laurie Cleevely's view of Cheltenham 2 Oxford 2
After a third home 2-2 draw in four games, Cheltenham fans were left scratching their heads at how we haven’t walked away with our first home win this campaign.
We started fantastically, straight out the blocks with the front two looking dangerous making good runs and seeing plenty of the ball.
It was important for Byron to score, and he certainly deserved it to cap a great performance. He hasn’t been on great form these last few games and I’m sure it will be a relief to him he’s hit the net.
The midfield worked well together, the ‘ballers’ in the team in Richards and Noble had a lot of the ball to pull the strings and work the ball wide or into the front two. However, their space was created by a typical Russ Penn performance as the skipper played a strong game.

The defence was ok; these mistakes are becoming a real problem and need to be eradicated as soon as possible, whether it’s down to communication is unknown. But, the back-line improved second half and we’re unlucky to concede. Hopefully, Elliott can form a bond with the moderately experienced Wilson to keep goals out during this injury hit spell.
Out of 10
Scott Brown – 7- Made a couple of top saves, may be at slight fault for the first, however.
Keith Lowe – 7 – Linked will with McGlashan and provided a good wide option with some testers into the Oxford penalty area.
James Wilson – 6- Decent debut, not outstanding, but filled a gaping gap well.
Steve Elliott – 6 – Very poor mistake, recovered well.
Sido Jombati – 7 – Got down the wing well and caused the Oxford flank some difficulty.
Jermaine McGlashan – 7- Caused the left back some problems, made a few strong runs and arguably should have been given a penalty.
David Noble – 8 – Proving himself very well, definitely solved a problem in midfield, spreads the ball well.
Russ Penn – 8- Top performance from him, did his job expertly.
Matt Richards – 7 – Good showing and used the ball efficiently.
Terry Gornell – 8 – Made some excellent runs and deservedly scored, need him to play like that consistently.
Byron Harrison – 8- Again, deservedly scored, varied his play and runs well.
