Fear over fast-moving police cars in Tewkesbury
PEOPLE living close to Tewkesbury Police Station could be at risk from fast-moving patrol cars.
That was the fear expressed by town councillor John Badham at a meeting of his authority.
The Abbey Terrace resident told Police Community Support Officer Karl Simpson that the number of police cars travelling quickly along Gloucester Road had increased dramatically in the last few months.
He wondered if it was due to the police having moved their station to the council offices site from Barton Street last summer.

He added: "It could be dangerous for people standing by the abbey. It's an accident waiting to happen."
The PCSO said any police cars travelling quickly in the area would be doing so for a valid reason but he said he would raise the issue with his inspector.

“how sad that someone has actually counted the number of police cars allegedly passing by.I would bet that that there are residents of the town that would love to see a police vehicle patrolling more often in their area.Abbey terrace road watchers may do better to point out to the council the cars parked on double yellow lines on the main routes in the town boldly displaying you can't touch me sign.”

“So it was ok for the police to speed from the police station from the middle of town when responding to a 999 call. Jeez, can't believe what some people moan about. Why is this even ******* news. Perhaps tig should have linked this non story to Heather Frost, may have got more comments then.”

“surely they have large sirens and blue lights, is that not enough warning ?
All officers are trained to drive at those speeds and if in any doubt they will slam on the brakes.”

“surely where the police station is makes no difference? the emergencies happen wherever, and the police have to go to them? Non story.”
