“How drunk must she have been to imagine that she could simply walk home 16 miles in the dark? Some of the roads probably didn't even have pavements.”

“I sincerely hope Eileen turns up safe and well, but how can we ever expect young women to behave more responsibly when 56 year-olds take risks like this? And before all you feminists scream at me: "women should be able to walk wherever they like and at any time they like" - I wholehearted agree with you! And in a perfect world they could but unfortunately a perfect world it never was and is never likely to be.”
