Flemenstar likely to miss Cheltenham Festival
Flemenstar will most likely miss the Cheltenham Festival next month due to a lung infection, his trainer said yesterday.
After defeat in the Hennessey Gold Cup at Leopardstown on Saturday, jockey Andrew Lynch raised suspicions the horse was not well, and a vet diagnosed a quite serious lung infection.
Peter Casey, the horse's trainer, stated "He'll be out for two to three weeks. It's a bad lung infection."
The Melling Chase at Aintree in April is now the next target.

Casey added: "He's going to be all right in the long term but I would say Cheltenham is very unlikely now. The jockey thought something was wrong on Saturday and it looks as if he was right. We'll probably look at Aintree now."
Flemenstar held entries in the BetFred Gold Cup, the Ryanair Chase, and the Queen Mother Champion Chase, featuring prominently in ante-post betting.
