CAMPAIGNERS in the county have backed a bid to help people insure their homes against flooding.

Those in flood-prone areas might struggle to get insurance after June 2013 when an agreement between the Government and the insurance industry runs out.

The National Flood Forum has written to the new Environment Secretary, Owen Paterson, urging the Government to work with the insurance industry on drawing up a new agreement quickly.

The letter was welcomed by Dave Witts, of the Tewkesbury-based Severn and Avon Valley Combined Flood Group. He said: "A good solid deal should be in place as soon as possible."
