Flood prevention guidance for developers issued by council
TEWKESBURY Borough Council has become the first local authority in the county to provide extra guidance on flood prevention for developers.
It has developed a Flood and Water Management Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) and is now asking members of the public for their views on it before it is formally adopted.
The consultation will run until November 26, alongside consultations on the Joint Core Strategy and the Tewkesbury Borough Plan.
The SPD is essentially a user-friendly guide to help planning applicants gain a better understanding of the council's commitment to minimising flood risk.

The council's lead member for built environment, Coun Derek Davies (C, Highnam with Haw Bridge) said: "We expect planning applicants to have an integrated approach to flood and water management and this document will help to ensure that this issue is properly considered at all stages of the planning process.
"With the need for significant levels of new housing and employment development within the borough, which is emerging through the Joint Core Strategy, it is important that issues associated with water management are identified and subsequently tackled so that existing problems are not made worse."
