“Unfortunately, nearly all rapists claim that the victim consented; and in most cases, even when the victim didn't know the attacker, the jury fails to convict.”

“IsitJimKerr - for those of us with nothing to hide, that makes sense.
Sadly it will never happen, as the civil liberties advocates will never allow it to happen. What it needs is a Home Secretary - backed by a united parliament, on all sides - to tell the advocates to shut up and see that the overwhelming law-abiding population would probably support it.
Knowing that your DNA was on file would (in theory) stop a lot of would-be criminals from going through with their intended acts, plus would help clear up quite a few historic unsolved cases too.
This attacker needs taking off the streets ASAP before he does it again, which he will eventually having done it once (and maybe more). Then he needs throwing in a very deep & dark hole, and then forgetting about, for ever.”

“The sooner EVERYONE is on the national DNA bank the better.
This would stop opportunist rapists, and would allow people such as this poor girl, the right to a violence free society.
Hope the **** is caught, soon.”
