Forest of Dean pub goes back to the 80s to celebrate landlady's 30 years
REGULARS went back to the 1980s to celebrate their landlady's 30 years behind the bar.
Myra Byett became landlady at the Nag's Head in Yorkley in 1983 – a year when Michael Jackson dominated the charts and Return of the Jedi hit the silver screen.

To commemorate Myra's milestone as the longest-serving licensee in the Forest of Dean, daughter Sara Byett organised a surprise party, with a timely twist – not only was it 1980s fancy dress, but the drinks' prices rolled back the years as well, making it 50p a pint for the evening.
Myra, 56, who lives at the Admiral Taverns-owned pub with Sara, 28, said: "I've been working in pubs since I was 15 years old.

"I was a waitress at the Cock Inn in nearby Blakeney, situated on the edge of the Forest of Dean.
"The Nag's Head is the first and only pub I have run and I don't know where the last 30 years have gone.
"It's a beautiful building and apart from the windows, it is exactly the same pub today as it was in January 1983.
"I'm a sociable person who enjoys the company of others which is why I've always wanted to run my own pub.
"The Nag's Head is a real homely place and we are always hosting annual events for the community such as a bonfire for Guy Fawkes Night and a Santa's Grotto at Christmas.
"I've seen generations of the same family come and drink in the pub and I've made plenty of lifetime friendships during my time here."
"Despite the snow it was a great turn out and people from the village and beyond came along to support us," said Sara.
