OFF the field Gloucester City were dealt a night of frustration by the city council planners, on it Dave Mehew's men were given a lesson in finishing by table-topping Brackley.
Owen Story delivered two telling blows that book-ended a lifeless first half as the Saints eased into a lead that never looked like being lost.

City huffed, puffed and worked hard to get back into the game, but as football imitated planning applications, the crucial final touches were missing.
How City craved a smart finisher and lively presence like former Rushden and Diamonds and Hinckley United winger Story was for the razor-sharp visitors.
Recalled goalkeeper Mike Green – back in the side after recovering from a groin injury – was called upon to pick the ball out of the net with his first touch of the ball after just 62 seconds.
The City back four were caught napping and after failing to clear a hopeful ball into the box, Story swept home from 12 yards.
City did their best to get back into proceedings but they lacked the killer touch that Story provided with a touch of class four minutes before the break.
A long ball into the left-hand channel again caught the City defence square and Story expertly lobbed the ball over the on-rushing Green and into the net.
Elliot Sandy wasted a glorious chance just 30 seconds into the second period, only for Green to stand up and save well from the on-rushing forward.
City, finally woken from their slumber, began to come into it but the final touches were badly missing.
Darren Edwards was guilty of missing two chances that he would usually gobble up with gusto, first failing to react in a goalmouth scramble and then heading wide from a Jack Harris cross on the hour mark.
A minute later it was game over, as Glen Walker looped a header over Green and into the net from a speculative right wing cross.
And if further proof was needed that it wasn't to be City's night it arrived on 78 minutes as Edwards' header kissed the crossbar with Turley beaten and somehow spun away from goal and onrushing boot.
The bounce of the ball was kinder for substitute Steve Diggin in the final minute as, after Story's shot had cannoned off the post, the substitute was on hand to smash home.
Jack Harris added an even later consolation in stoppage time, but after 92 minutes of frustration his expert stooping header was of little cheer to the long-suffering City supporters.

“It's all turning sour for Gloucester on and off the pitch - will McGurk and co quit the club if the council say no to the stadium?
Boris has lost the dressing room - the players don't respect him, they need Steve Bleasdale in:
'WHEN IT'S A BATTLE YOU ****ING BATTLE!'”
