GCW looking to avenge Westbury defeat
GLOUCESTER City Winget are determined to turn the tables after a comprehensive defeat to Westbury and District in the Glos/Wilts Division.
Westbury beat them by six wickets at the The Spa Ground last Saturday to leave GCW in fourth place ahead of tomorrow's rematch.
GCW skipper Stuart Wilshaw said last weekend's match could have been lost before a ball was bowled.
"We lost the toss on a wet wicket," he said. "We played all right I suppose, but we could have done better with the bat and got 170, 180 or even 200.
"It's hard to take any positives really, nobody excelled, we could have bowled better and we know we can do better.
"Andy Green picked up a couple of wickets, so that was a plus, but it's difficult to really pinpoint any positives from the game."
Westbury – currently lying in second place – are without defeat in seven league matches, stretching back to the early weeks of May.
They will again pose a stern test to Wilshaw's men, who will have to make do without their captain as they travel to Wiltshire.
He is away and will also miss next weekend's fixture with Wootton Bassett.
His place in the team will be filled by 16-year-old Andrew Daughtrey, who has yet to feature for the first team during the 2009 season.
Last weekend he took six wickets for just nine runs as the second team defeated their Westbury counterparts, and Wilshaw is hopeful he can repeat that form tomorrow.
"We picked the team before I went away," he said. "Andy's a young lad, a fast bowler who's been taking wickets for our other sides, so we're looking to give him a bit of a run in the first team.
"Andy Green also won't play as he's unavailable, so Rich Howells will come back into the side."
