TOM George will attempt to win tomorrow's feature hurdle race for the first time in his training career.

He is targeting the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury with Cheltenham winner Baby Mix, who has something to prove after defeats in his past three races.

The youngster looked an exciting prospect for the Slad trainer after winning at Kempton in February last year.

But subsequent defeats at Prestbury Park in March and October, and Wincanton last time out have raised question marks about how far he can go.

Paddy Brennan has ridden Baby Mix in all six of his races in Britain so far, but Noel Fehily will be aboard tomorrow.

The Betfair Hurdle has attracted a 23-runner field, headed by Festival contender My Tent Or Yours.

Victory might go some way towards easing the pain felt by the gelding's jockey AP McCoy, trainer Nicky Henderon and owner JP McManus when their leading Champion Hurdle candidate Darlan died in a fall at Doncaster on Monday.

Paul Nicholls, who won the race last year with Zarkandar, will run Pearl Swan, Dark Lover and Caid Du Berlais.
