Getmoving has given a voice to first-time buyers and spoken out to both buyers and sellers in Gloucestershire, according to the regional managing director of a county house-builder.

Malcolm Pink, of Bovis Homes, which has sponsored our getmoving campaign, told Property Life that he hoped the campaign's ethos would continue.

"One of my hopes for the getmoving campaign was that it would help to refresh the debate on housing in Gloucestershire and give a voice to the 'silent majority'.

"These are the first-time buyers hoping to take their first step onto the property ladder, the growing family looking to find somewhere affordable with more space or even the grandparents who want to downsize and find somewhere suitable to set up home close to the grandchildren.

"Because fundamentally the buying and selling of homes is about people getting on with their lives and achieving a quality of life they would wish for themselves and their loved ones. And the building of new homes – which has been my line of work for more years than I care to remember – is an integral part of that.

"In today's society, with shifting demographics and a growing population, new housing stock is vital to keeping the market on an even keel and ensuring that those home-owning aspirations can still be realised.

"And at Bovis Homes we've also had some important messages to share about the innovative purchase assistance schemes we've developed that can help get home-buyers across the threshold.

"So I think getmoving has spoken to something very fundamental to life in the county and I would applaud Gloucestershire Media for their bold initiative which has challenged the old fashioned approach that house building is automatically a 'bad thing' that will have a detrimental effect on communities.

"I think the opposite is true and I hope the getmoving ethos will continue to have a positive impact in the county."
