FOREST GREEN ROVERS 4 LAVERSTOCK & FORD 0

FOREST Green's fringe players pushed their claims for a place in Dave Hockaday's squad with a comfortable home victory.

Wessex League opponents Laverstock and Ford had no answer to the pace and movement of a young Rovers side, with goals coming from Reece Styche, David Accam, trialist Yan Klukowski and Isaac Shaze.

Of Hockaday's starting XI, only Styche and perhaps Lee Ayres – provided cash can be found to sign him up – can expect to start the opening game of the Blue Square Bet Premier season at Mansfield Town on August 14.

And it was former Chasetown striker Styche who opened the scoring in the 10th minute.

With red tape continuing to keep them out of competitive matches, it was no surprise that Ghanaian quartet Bismark Kwarteng, Sam Mensah, David Accam and Isaac Shaze looked keener than most to prove a point.

Left-winger Accam doubled the home side's advantage on 33 minutes and it appeared a rout might be on the cards.

But Laverstock held out until the 77th minute when Klukowski, a Polish midfielder who has impressed during pre-season, lashed home a third.

Three minutes later it was 4-0, Shaze issuing another reminder of his exiting talent with his second goal of this summer's friendly campaign.
