Gloucester Docks toastie shop 'On Toast' has done it again - this time with a sweet mincemeat stuffed creation called 'Frosty Jewel."

Owner David Purchase says the sugar frosted toastie really does taste as good if not better than a real mince pie.

Also on the menu at On Toast is a Chocolate Orange and Cranberry creation, alongside more traditional festive favourites.

David says that customers at both the shop in the Docks and the new Matson Gateway store, open since September, are loving the new flavours.

“Oh give it a break Dave Purchase has set up a good little cafe and deserves the support of the Citizen for innovation for Christmas - although I'd stick with a cheese and tomato myself.”

“C'mon folks give the bloke a break, it is nearly Christmas after all! I don't like advertorials either, but if we are to have them, better on behalf of some 'little' guy or gal than for some multinational sticky drinks corporation don't you think?”

“I'm sure the mincemeat toastie is very nice, but better than a real mince pie? I doubt that very much.”
