Gloucester National Express office to close.
THE National Express office in Gloucester will close at the end of the month, with most of the staff being made redundant.
The office, based on Station Road, will close after its last day in operation on April 30, although its bus services will continue as normal.

There are four members of staff based in Gloucester. One will be moving to another National Express site and the others are being made redundant.
The staff at the office did not wish to make a comment.

Gillian Saltmarsh, of Kingsholm, has been a regular customer at the bus station-based office over the years.
She said: "I was in tears when I found out, I was extremely upset.
"This is just another example of everything being forced online. Some elderly people don't adapt to change all that well and need to have that physical contact with a person.
"There should be a choice for people. It is nice to call in face to face and speak to someone personally.
"Gloucester is just losing itself to Cheltenham. It's awful."
Heather McDonald, director of retail and customer service at National Express, confirmed the closure.
She said: "From April 30, over the counter ticket sales for National Express coach services will be sold from the Tourist Information Centre.
"As a result, the travel shop on Station Road will close.
"I would like to thank the staff for their loyal service to our customers."
Derek Lucas, public transport manager at Gloucestershire County Council, is pleased that services will still be on offer to Gloucester residents.
He said: "We have no concerns about this as National Express will continue to provide bus service from Gloucester station and tickets will also be available locally."

“That would depend on which side of Southgate Street you live. It will probably be closer for just as many as it is further.

“The Tourist Information Centre is in Southgate Street , which is a fair walk for many older and/or disabled people .”
