Gloucester building site needs to be a community
We need to transform this building site into a thriving community – that's the message from the newly formed Kingsway Resident's Association.
Barry Kirby was elected as chairman of the group last month, and believes they can transform the estate's reputation.

Mr Kirby moved the area from Coney Hill, and says that, contrary to some people's impressions, Kingsway estate is a friendly place.
He said: "Walking around here in the evening is fine.
"If you have been to the pub for a drink, you can walk back though the estate without worrying about any trouble.
"It is not like some of the places I have lived before.
"When we moved here 18 months ago we knew we would be moving onto what was at the time a building site.
"However, before long you read and hear comments from people saying Kingsway is the new Hester's Way.
"We have had the occasional piece of trouble here, but generally if you look around the area you can see it's not like that."
Mr Kirby said the vital thing now was to build a community on the estate.
He said: "We need a pub, and we need to create a community spirit here, people need to work together to make it a place where we are happy to live.
"We want to live in a nice place, and we need to make it an area people will want to move into.
"Kingsway seems to have earned a poor reputation for no apparent reason, and we want to change that." Anyone who would want to get involved in the residents' association should email Mr Kirby at mrbpkirby@hotmail.com.

I live in Kingsway and dont have any problem.. i love how the place is coming together and over time will be a great place... i think overall your the main person who has the problem not me... QUVL, QPC are doing a great job.... There is plenty of people who would take the chair but as you are a yes man no one ever has the chance... well have funand i want to see the egg onyour face again ... and good luck .. V Kingsway”

“Having read some of the comments on here, I would like to say thank you to all the positive ones and I think it shows a desire to make something of this place. Contrary to some views, I am not the "main guy" of Kingsway and QUVL and I never fell out. In fact we had a really good relationship until their management changed and I have not got to know the new manager yet. Kingsway is a great place to live now and the Residents Association want to make the community aspects work, as well as addressing the issues that we have.
Finally, I don't do this for any kind of "power trip", I am currently the Chair because no one else (including V) stepped forward to make an election of it. To V personally, You obviously have some sort of problem with me , why don't you get in touch with me so we can discuss it over a coffee and work out what your issues are, rather than taking this approach, which solves no problems at all.”

“Thats fun as im from Kingsway and people here are not nice... complain about everything and even having socail housing here (there are people to ) .. quedgeley is a great place....
But i would say one thing... Nice that you got time to write this Mr Kirby when you suppose to be the main guy of Kingsway .... or you fake and you run the group in to the ground again like last time and even upset QUVL... remember that ..”

“Why dont all kingsway people walk throught the tunnel under the bypass... wow there is a place there with shops, post office and wow a couple of pubs.. what place and its called quedgeley and its been there a lot longer the kingsway and it a nice place to visit ... so Barry and friends go for a visit one day ... kingsway is a estate and still being developed and Barry please dont upset QUVL this time ...... V”
