A drug dealer who was caught selling cocaine and heroin in Gloucester streets has been jailed for four years and eight months.

Lewis Green, 22, went ‘straight back to work’ on the streets after being charged and bailed, a court heard.

Green was caught red handed again when he was arrested the very next day for selling heroin, Gloucester Crown Court heard.

He had more than £600 in cash in his pocket when he was taken into custody for the second time.

Green, of Thompson Road, Stroud, admitted three charges of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply and a further charge of possessing crack cocaine on July 8 last year.

The court was told that on April 27, he was arrested in Northgate Street, Gloucester, near its junction with London Road.

He was in possession of four wraps of cocaine with a street value of £100.

He also had three heroin wraps with a 30 per cent purity and a street value of £120.

He was charged and released on police bail, but officers again arrested him in the city centre the following day.

This time he was in possession of a single wrap of heroin worth around £20 on the streets.

He also had a new telephone with messages relating to drug deals and £610 in cash.

On July 8, he was found to be in possession of two wraps containing 0.3gm of cocaine.

The court heard that Green is currently serving a two-year jail term for unlawful wounding after a vicious brick attack on a man in a Gloucestershire park.

Carole Knotts, for Green, said he had found custody very difficult, wanted to change his behaviour, and was taking steps to wean himself off drugs.

Miss Knotts said he recognised he had made serious mistakes and wanted to give himself some sort of future and sort his life out.

Judge Martin Picton told Green that he had a “frankly appalling” criminal record.

He sentenced Green to four years, eight months in jail, but in an “act of mercy” ruled this sentence should be served concurrently with his current prison term.
