Gloucester's flood risk areas could face new homes threat
FLOOD risk areas and rural beauty spots around Gloucester could be under greater threat from housing developers under new Government planning rules.
Laurence Robertson, MP for the Tewkesbury constituency, has secured a debate which he will lead in the House of Commons on October 24 to discuss the controversial changes.
Mr Robertson said: "The government has said that it wants to protect the Green Belt and flood risk areas. However, there seems to be pressure being applied to councils to draw up local plans containing large housing numbers, which means that the Green Belt could end up being compromised.
"This is the situation in Gloucestershire."
