Gloucester tie up scrum-half Field to deal
BRAD Field has signed a one-year contract allowing him to play for both Gloucester and Hartpury RFC until the end of the season, writes Nick Purewal.
The 26-year-old scrum-half has impressed on a Kingsholm trial that started in pre-season, and has now completed a dual-registration deal.

Cherry and Whites boss Nigel Davies initially brought Field in as cover until All Black World Cup winner Jimmy Cowan's arrival.
But the Hartpury College graduate's performances in training and with Gloucester United in A League action have prompted Davies to tie up a permanent deal.

Field will now keep turning out for Hartpury RFC in National Two South action – but also has the chance to break into Gloucester's set-up too.
Dan Robson and Dave Lewis shared scrum-half duties before Cowan's arrival, and both are still battling for time in the Kingsholm number nine jersey.
Field had signed a deal to join Leeds this term, but that contract was cancelled after he sentenced to community work after breaking former Hartpury team-mate Phil Hoy's jaw following an argument.
Field has shown a first-class attitude at Kingsholm though, and the club view that incident as out of character.

“No doubt the tallentless spotter will be claiming that he was integral to this signing being made.”

“Four Hookers and now four scrum halves, yet still only 3 out and out locks. The balance doesn't look right to me.”
