A KIND-HEARTED couple from Upton St Leonards have come to the rescue to give little Charlotte a super new sledge.

Last week,The Citizen reported that two-year-old Charlotte Brayshaw, of Fieldcote Drive, Hucclecote, had her homemade sledge stolen after taking it out for the first time.

But, after reading the article, Brian and Josephine Harris decided they would give her a sledge built by Brian.

Brian, 70, a former painter and decorator, said: "We saw the article and thought what a shame it was that her sledge had been stolen, so we thought that she could have one of mine if she wanted.

"I was making one for my cousin's son out of old wood and then I got the bug and ended up making about five.

"A few of them were promised to other people but I did have one left and so I was happy to give it to her."

Charlotte's grandmother Sue Wainwright said she was delighted with the gift.

Sue said: "How sweet. She loves it and we are thrilled that they have come to help her.

"The snow has melted now but hopefully she can have it to use next year."
