"No final decisions on specific units have yet been made."
Up to 40 military personnel will take part in a European Union mission to train Malian soldiers, which will last for up to 15 months.
A further 200 British troops will be on a separate training mission outside of Mali.
Government critics are already concerned Mali could become the next Afghanistan as fears grow it could be a long and drawn-out deployment to fight against al Qaeda. But David Cameron has ruled out a combat role for the UK forces.

“Can you believe the brass neck of the lying sack of spit we have as a Prime Minister?
Only a few days ago he was saying "No Boots on the Ground".
The next boot he sees should be the one we apply to his rear.
I'll say it again. David Cameron PM is an inveterate liar!”
