Gloucestershire County Council cancels badger cull debate
A debate about the badger cull which was due to be held by Gloucestershire County Council on Monday has been cancelled.
A spokeswoman said: "Following the recent government announcement to postpone the trial badger cull, the five members who made a request for an extraordinary meeting have withdrawn that request and the chairman of the council has agreed to cancel the meeting."
Instead, a recommendation from the Budget and Performance Overview and Scrutiny Committee for the council to review its policy regarding rural practices and procedures will now be considered at the next scheduled full council meeting on November 21.

“I am relieved that they have put a halt to the cull. Surely it is time for more research into whether TB is carried and transmitted by humans and domesticated animals, such as dogs, who are far more likely to come into contact with cattle than badgers are.”
