Gloucestershire University students launch Red Zebra Records label
A university project has turned into a dream opportunity for three Gloucestershire students with the launch of their very own recording label.
Red Zebra Records was founded by University of Gloucestershire students - James Baylis, Kenneth Vaughn and Joseph McGarrigle - as a part of their degree.
The label has already signed two bands: Seconds from Ruin, an alternative band from Newport in Wales and Cheltenham band Strange Things Frighten Us.
This week has seen the first release of the debut EP from Strange Things Frighten Us and also sees the delivery of their first batch of merchandise.

The record label has a number of projects in the pipeline, including launching a UK-wide tour for Seconds From Ruin.
James Baylis, co-founder of Red Zebra Records said: “We’re really excited to be launching Red Zebra Records. We’ve been working on the idea for a long time, so it’s great to see everything in action.
“After a lot of research, we managed to sign Strange Things Frighten Us, which was brilliant as we actually only needed to sign one band to the label for our degree.
"However, once we launched our Red Zebra Records , we were approached by Seconds From Ruin and there was no way we were going to turn down signing a second band!”
Strange Things Frighten Us’ EP by the same name is available to download on iTunes now.
