Traffic is finally passing on the A417 through Maisemore after the road has been closed since Christmas Eve.

Gloucestershire Highways shut the road for the second time in two months because of severe flooding.

This morning it is said to be passable, but traffic lights are in place.

It is understood that just one lane is open and traffic is expected to be heavy at rush hour.

Highways previously said the road would re-open once river levels had dropped.

Dean Cox, who lives in the village, said yesterday: "I came through there this morning on my bike and it was just a large puddle, so I'm pleased that I'm not getting wet every morning and evening."

A video of him riding through the floodwater on New Year's Eve has been uploaded to and videos were also posted by user LightValue1840 of flooding on the road.

“Please, please Mr Reporter tell me why a totally irrelevant "library" picture has been posted on this article. That's not Maisemore. It's pointless doing that...”
