Gloucestershire knitters needed for charity Age UK
KNITTERS in Gloucestershire are being invited to pick up their wool and needles as part of a birthday celebration.
Age UK Gloucestershire is calling on the county’s knitters to take part in the annual Big Knit, as part of the charity’s Spread the Warmth campaign.
Now in its 10th year, more than four million hats have been knitted, and now Age UK Gloucestershire and partners Innocent are asking for more hats.
The little woolly hats will adorn Innocent smoothie bottles in stores nationwide in November.
Gents, come in to Earl's & Co and enjoy a haircut and finish, glass of whisky and a shoeshine for £18.50
Terms: Later and earlier appointments available upon request
Contact: 01242 504887
Valid until: Tuesday, December 31 2013
For each hatted smoothie sold, Innocent will give 25p to Age UK’s Spread the Warmth campaign, helping to fund national and local winter projects.
Christina Snell, chief officer at Age UK Gloucestershire said: “Winter can be a very difficult time of year for many older people, so it’s really important that local knitters get behind The Big Knit to help raise funds for vital local winter projects.
“We need knitters in Gloucestershire to help us reach our goal of 3,000 miniature hats so that we can help older people struggling to pay fuel bills over the coming winter.”
Knitters can contact Age UK Gloucestershire on 01452 422660 to get a free hat pattern.
