Gloucestershire's UFO files revealed
"CALLER reports that she has seen a spaceship and it was really close to the houses. Described as big with lights all round it."
This was just one such call fielded by police, back in February 2010.
An Echo request, made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, revealed there have been a series of alien and UFO reports to Gloucestershire police in the past three years.
On May 11, 2009, in Cheltenham, one 999 operator received a call and noted: "Saw a UFO travelling from Up Hatherley to Bishop's Cleeve area.
"Very fast, changing colours from green and red and then possibly orange. Very pleasing to the eye and exciting. Travelling due north or north north-east."
On October 21, 2009, the following was reported: "Large disc flying in the sky, yellow and pink.
"Darting in and out of the clouds at high speeds. Caller given UFO hotline number."
In March 6, 2010, in Gloucester, the following was reported: "Caller sighted two UFOs last night and tonight she has seen at least three or four.
"They are now letting men out to come down. Advised caller we would let her know if we see any...." Elsewhere in the county, this report was taken from a caller in the Stroud area on May 22 2010: "Road obstruction, caller has come home to find an alien car parked on his driveway."
Churchdown's Dave Cosnette, who co-founded UFO and paranormal website Cosmic Conspiracies, said he expected there to be even more sightings at this time of year.
He said: "Over new year there will be plenty of reports I'm sure, but most will turn out to be those Chinese lanterns.
"Last Christmas there were quite a few reports." He added: "Gloucestershire isn't a bad place to see UFOs actually, we get our fair share.
"The thing is, knowing who to report a sighting to. The MoD used to take calls, but not anymore.
"I suppose people could report it to the police, at least then it would be logged."
A spokesman for Gloucestershire Constabulary said: "Where appropriate information has been sent to the Ministry of Defence in the past, although in some cases people have simply mistaken aircraft, including the police helicopter, for UFOs.
"Anyone who witnesses suspicious activity which is not an emergency should contact 101."

“messyhare
Bloody typical of a psychiatrist, suppressing inconvenient truths as insanity, there as bad as the catholic church in Galileo's time. It's a tossup between them being incompetent or plain evil, if the truth be known it's probably both. After thousands of years speculation, we still cannot define consciousness, how these shrinks get the power, money, and respect is an indictment of the stupidity of our culture.”

“Attack on the Pentagon? Good grief.
Anyway, GCHQ would have little to worry about in the event of a real, not a staged, attack.”

“It wont be an airfield for very much longer when a short haul company moves in towards the end of 2013, if you are worried about your companies location and ....go somewhere else.”

“Oh messy!!! I did laugh at that!
I wouldn't be at all surprised if aliens existed, the technological advances we have made in the last half century compared to the time humans have existed combined with the number of planets we are now discovering daily significantly shifts the question from "Are we alone?" to "How long will it take to find them?!"
I do believe that that vast majority of sightings are probably mistakes though - on new year's eve I spent a good 2 minutes looking in awe at an object tracking its way through the sky until I realised it was a pigging Chinese lantern! I know that sounds sarcastic but for a brief moment when I saw that weird and unexpected light a chill went through my spine and I really did wonder...”

“I believe!
My sighting was in November 99. It was a brilliant white orb with red and green lights circling round it. My dog and I stood watching it hovver for a good 5 minutes at the top of the Vineyards in Tewkesbury. It then shot through the sky, in silence, at an incredible speed, leaving a orange trail behind it. We ventured past the Rugby Club, where the womans team were training. I asked... ''Did you see that?!'' They responded that they'd certainly seen something...
I didn't call the Police as I was sure I'd be labelled insane. I did tell my Psychiatrist however. Darn woman Sectioned me! But it was REAL I tell you! As medicated and 'well' as I am today, I still believe what I saw that night.”

“Of course, most of UFO sightings can be attributed to any number of non paranormal factors.
Weather ballons, weather conditions, too much alcohol or waccy baccy etc etc.
However, occasionally something is seen by large numbers of people over a wide area that cannot be explained away by any such means. I was a member of a large group of people 10 years ago who observed such a phenomena for more than an hour over the gulf of mexico. No it wasn't a plane, no it was nothing to do with the weather and at the time we all stone cold sober and straight. Most curiously, none of the photos or video footage taken by us "came out" and so there is no proof whatsoever. Was it extraterrestrial? No idea but I will tell you this. I've never seen anything like it in the news.
We can all poo-poo UFOs but there are quite simply too many reliable witnesses to discount them out of hand and to do so would be plain stupid. There are of course plenty of loonies around and back in the day I worked with one of 'em. He claimed on several occasions that he was late for work because a UFO had landed ON the M4 at 8 o clock in the morning. That must have been some excellent weed.”

“What is it the Government and the Police say to the expendable public.... "You have nothing to hide... you have nothing to fear."
Seems that should apply to GCHQ.... and who really cares anyway?
The Galactic Federation are watching YOU!!!”

“@rudeboy81 Staverton is just an airfield, not a proper airport, they could move it to any open space well away from the doughnut. Whole thing could be moved and a runway paved inside two months if they wanted. Instead the high-ups consider it more important to be able to fly their fancy jets and Chinooks right next door to their office, rather than considering the importance of the potential target.”
