Gloucestershire students in coach collision
Gloucestershire students were taken to hospital after two coaches were involved in a collision this morning.
The buses were carrying students from Rednock School in Dursley to the West Midlands Safari Park this morning when they were involved in an incident with a car on the A449, Kidderminster Road.

A statement said the coaches were two of five heading north and that all parents had been informed.
"No students were seriously injured, but 15 students were taken to Worcester Accident and Emergency for assessment of possible whiplash injuries," it said.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said the casualties sustained only minor injures, describing them as “walking wounded”.
A WMAS spokesman said: “Two coaches, taking children from Gloucestershire to the West Midlands Safari Park and a car were involved in a collision in the roadworks area of the A449 near Claines Island.
“Fourteen children and two adults from the coaches and the woman driver of the car all had neck pain and were complaining of feeling unwell.
“They were all walking wounded casualties who were taken to a nearby campsite away from the road to be assessed and treated.
“They were all found to have minor injuries and were then taken Worcestershire Royal Hospital.
“Because of the number of casualties, a patient transport services ambulance was called in to help transport some of the patients to hospital.”

“Nathan you are over reacting way too much. Yes i understand that you were worried about your daughter however the main prorities were to contact all of the children who went to hospital.
When any 999 calls are made the press automatically go down to the scene, so you are going to find from the news first. If you think about it thaere were, what, 120? kids on that bus and then they had to ring around all of their parents. Thate would take at least 7-8 hours.
I am sure that the schoo.l did their best in trying to let all of the parents know as soon as possible but you have just got to be gratefull that your child wasn't taken to hopsital and that nobody was seriously hurt!
For god sake it doesn't take a genious to work that out.!!!”

“I was one of the students on the crashed coaches. At first it shocked everyone, and we were all a little bit upset. we were not allowed to ring home, for this would worry the 100 parents, however what they did not account for is 240 parents ringing up to ask if their. child was involed.”

“Nathan: they apparently need to be educated in where to place an apostrophe correctly.
I am a bit shocked not all parents were contacted, if not immediately, then at all. I am sure the school could spare one administrator to make phone calls in an emergency, regardless of how quickly the story hit the news.”

“Bored notrtherner, did you have a child on the coach? everybody who had kids on the two coaches concerned ,should have been contacted by the school, should we not be concerned for the safety of our children, i dont think any parent need's to be educated on that part.”

“My grandson was one of the injured and he was full of praise for the skill of the coach driver and the care given by the staff on hand. The school office staff were very helpful, nevertheless there were bound to be a few mixed messages in an incident of this scale.”

“Nathan, if you`ve phoned the school you surely now know what is going on or do you need educating more than your daughter.”
