Green Deal Cashback – how it works
The Government's Department for Energy and Climate Change has announced a Green Deal Cashback Scheme worth £125million, which will reward households taking early action to improve the energy efficiency of their property through Green Deal with direct cash payments from Government.
This scheme is open for domestic properties in England and Wales only. It is intended to work alongside the Green Deal and is open to customers that have had a Green Deal Assessment and have accepted a quote from a Green Deal Provider.
The cashback will be capped at 50 per cent of the customer's contribution to installation costs. People who get measures installed for free will not receive cash back.
The online application form is now open. In order to apply, you must have had a Green Deal Assessment carried out and to have accepted a quote from a Green Deal Provider.

If you are an authorised Green Deal assessor then this is an opportunity to create leads. You can register to receive updates.
If you are a tenant in a social or privately rented property then you will be eligible for cashback provided you are going to pay for the costs of installing measures, either up-front, or using a Green Deal plan. If your landlord is paying most/all of the installation costs then you will not be able to apply.
If you are planning to make energy efficiency improvements to a property, which you intend to pay for, then you may be able to benefit from the scheme.
While the Green Deal will be available for businesses, the cash-back scheme is only available for domestic properties.
The current cashback levels are guaranteed until the first £40million has been spent. You are guaranteed the cashback levels at the rates offered at the point when you apply.
This is not yet confirmed, but it is expected to be three to six months depending on the measure.
The amount of funding you receive will depend on which energy saving measure(s) you install.
Eligible measures are domestic energy efficiency measures that can be recommended by an Energy Performance Certificate and are eligible for Green Deal finance.
