HARTPURY'S Senior Football Academy Manager Steve Guinan has taken up the post of Assistant Coach for the Great Britain men's football team ahead of next year's World University Games.
The tournament which will be held in Kazan, Russia from July 6-17 2013 is a great opportunity for university and college students to show their skills on the international stage.

"The team performed exceptionally well in the last World University Games in Shenzhen, China where they reached the final and played in front of 30,000 spectators, leaving with a silver medal having being defeated by Japan. Hopefully we can go one step further."
Hartpury were well represented at the 2011 games with students Ben Pugh, Jon Else and Jack Winter all part of the Great Britain squad who went on to win a silver medal. Guinan believes the college have a good chance of sending more boys to next year's tournament.
He said: "The ability of some the players this year at Hartpury plus the very high standard of Saturday football that they are playing would lead me to believe that a few of them would have a strong chance of involvement at the games."
Guinan has been rewarded with the call up after seeing a tremendous amount of personal and team success during his time at the College.
He added: "On a personal level, to be selected to support the management team plus support staff is a privilege and I hope that I can use my coaching skills and attributes to bring success to the squad.
"During the 18 months I have been at Hartpury, to win a National College Title and two league titles plus my involvement as Head Coach of the England Universities Team has been hard to believe."
