Hartpury student Sophie Masterson makes Superleague debut
Hartpury student Sophie Masterson continued her amazing year by becoming the college’s first current student to play in the Netball Superleague for Team Bath.
Her debut, a 69-30 win in front of 1,400 fans against Loughborough Lightning, came on Friday night as she replaced Gemma Stewart at Goal Keeper. The 18-year-old played the final quarter of the match for the four time champions.

“It was crazy, I can’t remember the first 10 minutes”, she said. “The crowd were great tonight. It’s a development year for me, I’m learning loads just training with the likes of Stacey (Francis) and Sam (Cook).”
Sophie, a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Sport student, can add this honour to a growing list of achievements she has made since joining the college. Already an England U19 international, she was also recently selected for the U19 Federation of European Netball Associations (FENA) squad, who’ll represent England in competition next week.
