RECORD numbers of people have been contacting Forest of Dean District Council and the NHS-funded Safe at Home service concerned about the recent onset of cold weather.

Paul Riddick, partnership manager from Safe at Home, said: "People with faulty heating systems, rotten windows and doors, and those needing adaptation and small repairs, have been just some of those contacting us from the Forest of Dean district recently.

"Our advice is free to vulnerable, older and disabled people and we work with many other organisations to provide a holistic approach to help people to live more independently and safely in their homes.

"We have a wonderful Occupational Therapy Team throughout Gloucestershire and we receive many referrals from them, but anyone can self refer too."
