Help to run your waterway
THE new body responsible for the nation's canals wants to talk to people in Gloucestershire.
The Canal and River Trust – the new charity responsible for 2,000 miles of waterways in England and Wales – is encouraging people in the county to have a greater role in how their local waterway is run, with a series of new surgeries starting in April that will help the community's ideas and opinions shape the charity's work.
The surgeries will be similar to those used by MPs, with 15-minute slots for the public to work through ideas with trust staff, covering topics including boating, cycling, angling, ecology and heritage, among others.
They will be held once a month across the south Wales and Severn waterway region, alternating between Gloucester, Diglis and Govilon in Wales.
