Heroes help to catch pet shop handbag thief
SIX have-a-go heroes have helped catch a man after he stole from a Tewkesbury shop.
They stepped in to stop the burglar as he tried to escape down the town's High Street.
Police officers had been called to Springfield Pet Centre in Bishop's Walk in Tewkesbury following reports of the theft on February 16.
Clive Evans, 53, collared the man after the thief ran off with a handbag he had snatched from a staff room.

He had been walking past the shop when it happened, and helped police community support officers apprehend the offender.
The community protection officer at Cheltenham Borough Council said it was the first time he had done anything like this.
Mr Evans said: "It is about helping the community and seeing this young assistant traumatised the way she was, I just had to do something."
Inspector Owen Hughes, of Tewkesbury police, said it showed how important it was for the public and police to work together to catch criminals.
He said that the force wanted to extend its thanks to the six heroes who had helped out after the theft.
He added: "We would not have apprehended an offender without their help."
