Heston Blumenthal ice cream scene in King's Walk, Gloucester
Chef Heston Blumenthal evoked memories of summer days for Gloucester shoppers today with an unusual ice cream experiment.
The Fat Duck chef was filming in King's Walk for a forthcoming Channel 4 series in which he attempts to recreate fond food memories - with a Heston twist.
With a table of culinary tricks including sun cream; taped recordings of summer sounds and even a little fan to create the feeling of a breeze Heston invited shoppers to sit down in a deckchair.
They were then given blackout glasses so they could concentrate on the senses of taste, smell and sound as he asked them to describe childhood food memories before handing over a typically bizarre looking ice cream for the person to taste saying he weanted to "push the boundaries of the 99."
