Higgs: I won't settle for bench duty at Leeds
SHANE HIGGS says he has no intention of settling for a place on Leeds United's bench after sealing a dream move to Elland Road.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper officially left Cheltenham Town at the end of June after spending the second half of last season on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Former Cheltenham Town goalkeeper Shane Higgs has signed for Leeds United
He was used as cover for number one Wayne Hennessey during his time at Molineux, in the absence of the injured Carl Ikeme and Matt Murray.
But Higgs now has his sights set on first team football as Leeds aim to make it third time lucky in their quest for promotion to the Coca-Cola Championship.
He has signed a one-year deal with manager Simon Grayson's team and his main competition will come from Danish giant Casper Ankergren.
"It's a good move for me and I am certainly not coming to Leeds to sit on the bench," said Higgs, whose old club Cheltenham were held to a 2-2 draw last night at Bishop's Cleeve.
"I have played a lot of football at League One level and I want to push Casper."
Higgs performed heroics against Leeds for Cheltenham at Whaddon Road in November 2007 as the Robins snatched a shock 1-0 victory courtesy of Steven Gillespie's late strike.
He caught the eye of Leeds' goalkeeping coach Andy Beasley, who played on loan for Cheltenham from Mansfield Town in the late eighties.
"He was at Leeds when we played them and he had heard good things," Higgs said.
"I think he has spoken to John Ward, Keith Downing (former Robins managers) and Mick McCarthy (Wolves boss) for some references and I am sure my time at a club like Wolves helped me too."
Higgs joined Cheltenham a decade ago, ahead of their first campaign in the Football League.
He had to wait for more than four years to oust Steve Book as first choice, but he went on to play 275 times for the Robins, twice winning the club's Supporters' Player of the Year award.
"I was at Cheltenham for a long time and I always enjoyed it," he said.
"I always gave 100 per cent for the club and it has not finished as well as it could have, but I will always be grateful for the chance Cheltenham gave me and I feel I proved myself."
Higgs will train with Leeds for the first time on Monday.
He plans to move north from his current home in Thame, and is looking for a house in the Doncaster area.
● Striker Paul Connor will rejoin Cheltenham for training next week and he will be joined by former Swindon Town midfielder Michael Pook. The pair will be on trial as boss Martin Allen looks to bolster his threadbare squad ahead of the new season.

“You've got a bad memory Craig, Sprake was a Wales International and time will reveal that Higgs will be unfortunately only warming the bench occasionally as 3rd choice keeper / injury cover.
But Cameron probably rates him as highly as Connor and Spencer.”

“Im worried! Connor back but no mention of Spencer, this must be an oversight surely? Connor would make a good midfielder and give an extra option up front, but Spencer is the sort of player that may actually give us some chance of bouncing straight back up!
Spencer, where are you?”

“Also noticed that Connor is joining in training next week - he's not returning for another virtually goal-less season is he? I hope he's inviting Spencer back too in that case!”
