High street decline could be halted by master plan
THE decline of the high street could be halted by a new plan to learn from failing towns.
A partnership in Gloucestershire is to come up with a master plan for getting the most out of our high streets by learning from other area's failings.
The Gloucestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) has landed a grant from the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills to carry out the project.
Diane Savory, chairman of the Gloucestershire LEP, said: "We know that some high streets within the UK are thriving while others are seeing a significant decline and we want to find out the reasons for this.

"The project will identify the most significant barriers and contributors to success.
"We hope these findings will then be adopted around the UK to boost our high streets and ensure that they are some of the best in the world."
The project will cost £50,000 and results of the project will be revealed in March 2013.
