CULLING of baby seagulls (The Citizen, June 19, cover story and page eight).

I am sure I was not the only person to be horrified and sickened by the action of the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Trust in authorising the removal of live seagull chicks from their nests to be culled.

This barbaric act has sent a message to all potential thugs in the city that it is okay to remove young birds from their nests and kill them.

The Trust and the workmen who carried out this torture on the terrified birds are a disgrace.

I am of the opinion that human beings cause far more problems than seagulls.

“Its obvious you don't live in the centre of Gloucester Margaret. Come and live here for a while, get poo'ed on constantly, and I'll bet you soon change your tune!”

“It's all down to supply. If the wasters stopped dumping food, then the seagulls might just stop breeding so prolifically and possibly go back to their natural domains.

It's not rocket science! Stop feeding them!”

    “Sorry Margaret, can't agree.
I think the clue is in the title:
SEA gulls. No sea in or around Gloucester, but far too much guano. Allowing these flying rats anywhere near the hospital is simply not on. You might not think that humans have any more rights than these vermin, but no-one deserves to lose their life through an infection acquired whilst in hospital. I love to see all the different varieties of Gull at the Seaside. NOT 30 miles inland.”

    “Get off your throne Margaret.
There is clearly a problem here with the Seagulls, they were doing what needs to be done.

It's not "barbaric". What would be "barbaric" if they were picking up the baby seagulls and throwing them off the roof...

If you ever have rats in your house, are you going to put the rat poison down? Or allow them to breed at an alarming rate?”
