After another sticky day, Gloucestershire is set to cool down for the rest of the week.

Yesterday saw cloudy weather but humid temperatures across the county.

Despite earlier predictions of a heatwave lasting until Friday, latest forecasts suggest temperatures will not rise above the mid 20s.

Today will be sunny with some cloud and temperatures peaking at 29C. After that it will tail off to 24C and rain is forecast for tomorrow .

Yesterday Gloucestershire's hospitals reported no increase in admissions due to the hot weather.

But at one Gloucester factory staff were busy meeting the demands for a hot weather favourite.

At the Unilever factory in Barnwood staff have been working flat out to meet the demand for ice cream.

The factory, founded in 1958 and still known to most people as Wall's, produces millions of frozen desserts every day.

Andy Franks, logistics manager at Unilever, said: "At this time of year we are at our peak.

"We have been stock building since January because when it gets hot we can't make it as fast as it sells."

The factory is home to one of the biggest fridges in Europe, with its cold store kept at -26C.

And for the staff at the factory there is one big perk.

Mike Berry, manufacturing manager, said: "There are quality tasters to make sure it tastes right.

"They get to taste the products throughout the year but obviously it is more enjoyable in this weather."

The factory produces the equivalent of 18m portions of ice cream a week.
