Hotshot Alex makes Hay to put Cheltenham on top
CHELTENHAM 3 WHITCHURCH 0
A HAT-TRICK for Alex Hay secured victory for Cheltenham after a disciplined performance.
After letting slip a seemingly convincing win in their previous match, Cheltenham were determined to gain three points.
Whitchurch carved out the first opportunity when an aerial ball from the start created panic in the Cheltenham defence and a shot from the edge of the circle crashed into a post.

After the initial scare Cheltenham settled into their stride and controlled the game.
Possession was being turned over in the final quarter and it was the final pass that was lacking from the home side until Hay showed a piece of individual brilliance to break the deadlock.
Hay picked the ball up in the middle and rolled right creating space for him to knock the ball into, then he galloped passed the defender and fired the ball low and hard across the goalkeeper into the far corner.
Cheltenham struggled to keep the momentum after they scored and possession ebbed and flowed until a set piece gave them some breathing space.
From a short corner, Nick Lampkin calmly played a pass into Hay who brilliantly deflected the ball over a fallen keeper to double the home team's lead.
Cheltenham knew the next goal would be crucial and it came 15 minutes into the second half after a scrappy start.
A move that started on the right and was relayed out to the left created room for the Cheltenham attack.
Hay was once again on hand to finish the move as he weaved his way through stationary defenders and passed the ball into the net to complete his hat-trick.

BOTH teams started well but it didn't take long for Cheltenham to settle into the match and begin to take control.
The first goal was scored by Fiona Maffey, squeezing the ball past the goalkeeper into a corner.
Cheltenham doubled their lead from a short corner. With a confident push out by Gayle Ashby, the move couldn't have worked any better with a stunning strike by Charli Roberts beating the keeper.
Bristol packed their players forward and pulled the score back to 2-1.
However, undeterred Cheltenham kept on fighting and were soon rewarded for their efforts when Ashby found the net once more to make the score 3-1 at half-time.
Bristol pulled another goal back in the second half, but Cheltenham showed strong team spirit to take the points.
