Take That star Howard Donald played a DJ set to a packed out club in Cheltenham last night.

The international popstar, who took up DJing house music under the name DJ HD when Take That took a 10 year break from 1996 to 2006, was a Subtone for the solo performance.

A large crowd of girls, some of whom had travelled from Manchester and beyond, stormed to the DJ booth as he took to the decks and fought to take pictures and video footage and get autographs.

Prior to the performance, he tweeted his hopes that people wouldn't be put off by the weather.

He wrote on Twitter (under the name @theofficialhd): "Hope to see y'all tonight. Get prepared for sweaty back, pits and **** crack. That's u not me! If its snowing buy a sledge! #snowexcuses".

Barry Amphlett, managing director of Fresh Artiste Management & F-10 DJ Management, also wrote on Twitter: "@theofficialhd was loving @Subtone last night" and also said: "First time in Cheltenham, what a nice place ..."

And it seemed his set went down well with fans and clubbers alike.

Rachel Smith ‏tweeted: "Watching howard donald dj in chelts last night was too good."

While Gary Barlow pursues solo projects working as a judge on the X Factor and performing solo gigs and Robbie Williams does likewise, Howard has been back on the road.

With Take That, he has packed out huge stadiums across Europe, and as a DJ he has worked at big name clubs including Pacha in London and BCM's in Magaluf, Majorca.
