Huge cash awards for Gloucestershire clubs to keep Olympic legacy alive
SPORT clubs in Gloucestershire are keeping the Olympic legacy alive thanks to a £16.6 million pot of cash.
It is six months since the start of the London Olympics and Sport England has announced five county projects will receive grants from Inspired Facilities Olympic Legacy fund.

Corse and Staunton Playing Fields Association pick up a £50,000 award to refurbish their current pavilion including a new boiler and heating system, extending the social area, new toilets, new changing room flooring, creating a secure cricket store and installing solar panels.
Charlie Hulls, treasurer of the association said: "We are absolutely delighted. We actually found out we were getting the grant on Christmas Eve – it was the present I've ever had. We are extending the club room within the pavilion, making better use of the space. We will also be offering cycling and outdoor table tennis for the first time.

Berry Hill Rugby Club has been awarded £50,000 to extend their clubhouse to provide new changing facilities for matches and officials; a secure storage area for equipment and a meeting room. This will bring the club fully in line with RFU recommendations.
And Cheltenham and Saracens RFC also receive £50,000 to modernise their changing facilities and clubhouse, which were built in the 1950s, while Katherine Lady Berkeley Academy receives £150,000 to renovate the school's sports centre.
Tewkesbury Rugby Club will receive £30,000 to improve energy efficiency.
