MARCHING bands, veterans and knights in shining armour paraded past crowds in the city centre to celebrate Gloucester Day.

Civil dignitaries and the great and good of Gloucester were led on a procession around the Gate streets and beyond by Gloucester town crier Alan Myatt.

Mr Myatt, one of the key figures in organising the event on Saturday, said: "It brought a tear to my eye to see all the veterans, and all the groups and organisations who took part.

"I was ecstatic to see how many people turned up and it was lovely to see all the faces - young and old.

Two marches took place to celebrate the annual event.

“Once more Quedgeley Guy thanks for your link to Quedgeley motor show. And the first car I chance see? restored RU 2071. Very reminiscent of my past activities when I took to restoring a vintage Thorneycroft charabanc with similar RL registration and a 1926 Bentley 3 litre red label. Both took craftsmen almost 4 years painstaking work but a little bit of heritage has been preserved for future generations. I must look up the next Quedgeley show. Many thanks”

“Quedgeley Guy thanks for allowing readers to see this preview through the assistance of a video link. Quite an impressive sight and inspiring to see Gloucester people celebrating proud traditions long overlooked in our City. Look forward to seeing tomorrows Citizen portrayal and my aspiration to see these parades repeated more often so the younger generation will have something to look back on in later years.”
