He will travel there in January as part of the Wings of Kilimanjaro expedition.
Organisers have been given special permission by officials to carry out the first sanctioned paraglide off the famous landmark.
More than 300 pilots from across the world applied to join the record-breaking mission and Alan is one of just 12 chosen from the UK.
He is aiming to raise £7,000 to fund the trip and help charities Plant with Purpose, WorldServe International and One Difference.
He has been paragliding for 20 years but the highest point he has ever taken flight from is 8,500ft.
The property landlord said: "I'm reasonably fit but have never done much climbing before or been to Kilimanjaro.
"I'm confident I can make it up there but will be a serious challenge to try and launch at 20,000 because the air is very rare.
"It's something that's never been done before as they don't usually allow any kind of sport in Kilimanjaro National Park and have never given permission for people to fly down it before."
